The Total Renewal: Facial Rejuvenation & Pain Relief Series

The Total Renewal is for the person who wants their face to look more rested and vibrant—and also wants their body to feel better. It’s designed for active adults 40+ who care about healthy aging, are starting to see changes in their skin, and are also dealing with a persistent pain area that shows up during daily life or movement.

This 10‑visit series combines cosmetic acupuncture (also called facial acupuncture) with focused treatment for one key pain area in every 75‑minute session. Common pain focuses include:

  • Knee pain

  • Hip pain

  • Shoulder pain

On the cosmetic side, facial acupuncture is used as a natural, minimally invasive approach to support circulation, collagen, and healthy tone in the skin, while many people also notice improvements in relaxation, stress, and overall well‑being.

Why a series?

Facial rejuvenation work and deeper changes in chronic pain patterns both tend to respond best to a course of treatment rather than a single session. The Total Renewal series creates enough repetition and consistency for your system to build on each visit.

A typical series includes:

  • Ten 75‑minute sessions, usually scheduled once per week (or at a pace we agree on).

  • Cosmetic acupuncture work at each visit, focused on your primary facial concerns.

  • At the same time, treatment for one chosen pain area in each session.

  • Reassessment as we go, with time to adjust focus based on what you’re noticing.

Instead of booking separate “face days” and “pain days,” this series is built so that each visit supports both how you look and how you feel.

How it works

Each session begins with a brief check‑in on how your skin, energy, and pain have been since the last visit. From there, we structure the treatment time so you receive:

  • Cosmetic acupuncture / facial acupuncture for your primary aesthetic goals

  • Focused orthopedic work for your chosen pain area

  • A balanced, whole-body treatment that respects your energy and nervous system

Depending on your needs, treatment may include:

  • Facial and body acupuncture

  • Electrical stimulation acupuncture when clinically appropriate

  • Trigger point needling or dry needling for pain areas

  • Cupping or gua sha for tension and circulation (for body, and/or gentle facial techniques as appropriate)

No injectables are used in this series; this is a needle-based, non-surgical, non-injection approach that uses acupuncture and related techniques to support natural change over time.

Who this series is for

This program may be a good fit if you:

  • Are 40+ and want your face to look more rested and vibrant without surgery or injectables,

  • Have one pain area (such as knee, hip, shoulder, or low back) that you’d love to address consistently but don’t have time for separate visits,

  • Value a natural, integrative approach to healthy aging,

  • Want your cosmetic care to also respect your joints, spine, and long‑term mobility,

  • Or are already receiving other orthopedic or medical care and want a gentle, supportive treatment that fits within that plan.

If you have more complex or widespread pain, we can talk about whether a dedicated pain program, a cosmetic-only series, or The Total Renewal best fits your goals.

What to expect over the series

While everybody is different, many people notice:

  • Gradual changes in skin tone, circulation, and the appearance of fine lines over the course of the series,

  • A sense of deeper relaxation and “reset” time built into their week,

  • Changes in how their chosen pain area feels during and after daily activities,

  • A clearer sense of what kind of pacing and self-care helps them feel and look their best.

We’ll check in periodically about what you’re noticing—in your face, in your pain focus, and in your overall energy—and can talk about options for occasional maintenance visits after the initial series if you find the work helpful.

Why work with me for this kind of care

My background spans orthopedic acupuncture for pain, internal medicine, and cosmetic acupuncture / facial rejuvenation work, which means you receive care for both the aesthetic and functional sides of aging in the same session. I have treated many patients who are active, who want natural facial pro-aging care, and are managing real pain. They don’t want to choose between “face care” and “body care” when time and energy are limited.

In addition to my acupuncture training, I use Chinese herbal medicine when it’s appropriate to support underlying patterns that influence skin, circulation, sleep, stress, and pain. The same classical and modern herbal tools that I use for complex internal cases can be brought in, when needed, to support the deeper terrain that facial treatments and pain work are acting on.

If you’d like to read more about my training, including advanced work in orthopedic acupuncture and classical Jing Fang herbal medicine, you can visit my About page. I also recommend browsing the reviews on this page and elsewhere on my site to get a sense of how patients describe their experience with cosmetic and pain-focused care.
